1/ What is MobileMoneyMe ?
MobileMoneyMe is a Secure Mobile Payment service, which allows the subscriber to use his mobile phone to instantly:

  1. Send and receive money,
  2. Pay utility bills or online transactions,
  3. Top Up (recharge) a prepaid mobile phone account.

2/ What is m-Payment (Mobile Payment)?
Mobile Payments is a new and easy way to perform financial and banking transactions (online payments, money transfers, payment of bills, etc…), instantly, anytime, anywhere from your mobile phone. m-Payment also functions as a point-of-sale payment (POS) allowing the user to use a mobile phone or a personal digital assistant (PDA) instead of cash or a credit card. Using m-Payment, a user with a wireless device can pay for items or services online, in a store or a restaurant without having to interact with an employee.

3/ What is m-Commerce?
m-Commerce (mobile commerce) is the buying and selling of goods and services through wireless handheld devices such as mobile phone and personal digital assistants (PDA). Known as next-generation e-Commerce, m-Commerce enables users to access the Internet anywhere, anytime, without needing to find a place to plug in.

4/ What do I need in order to use MobileMoneyMe?
To start using the MobileMoneyMe service, you simply need to register your mobile phone and open a MobileMoneyMe virtual account (m-Wallet), optionally an international payment card (credit or debit card) may be required if you are planning to use the online/Web access of this service. Additionally your bank details will be required if you are planning to receive funds in your MobileMoneyMe account, or if you are a company or an authorized merchant.

5/ Is it safe to pay with my mobile phone using MobileMoneyMe?
All the transactions processed via MobileMoneyMe are secure. MobileMoneyMe uses the same security & control procedures as those approved and used by the major US & European banks for their SMS, phone and Web banking services.

6/ Do I need to give my bank details in order to use MobileMoneyMe?
No, you don’t need to give your bank details in order to start using MobileMoneyMe. However, if you are planning to receive funds in your MobileMoneyMe account, or you are a merchant who wants to be able to accept MobileMoneyMe as a payment system, then you need to provide your bank details in order to allow us to transfer funds/payments to your bank account.

7/ I don’t have a bank account, can I use MobileMoneyMe?
If you don’t have a bank account, or you don’t want to give your bank details, you can still use MobileMoneyMe since during the registration process, we automatically provide you with a FREE virtual account linked to your mobile phone number(s), and this is how with MobileMoneyMe, your phone number BECOMES your (virtual) account number.

8/ I don’t have a credit/debit card, how can I use MobileMoneyMe?
If you don’t have a payment card, no problem. You can still use MobileMoneyMe for all your payments and transfer transactions – In the future, more e-Commerce and m-Commerces online services will become accessible to you.

9/ What is the maximum amount per transaction with MobileMoneyMe?
MobileMoneyMe is a secure mobile payment for micropayments & micro-transfers; as per today, the maximum amount authorized per transaction depends on the type of information you provided during your registration and also on level of verification made during your registration:

Silver MobileMoneyMe: If you provide a valid phone number, your personal details and a credit/debit card or an iMTWallet account, the maximum amount per transaction of your MobileMoneyMe account is 50€ (or equivalent).

Gold MobileMoneyMe: In addition to the information provided for the Silver MobileMoneyMe, if your (home) address is verified, the maximum amount per transaction is 150€ (or equivalent).

Platinum MobileMoneyMe: In addition to the information provided for the Gold MobileMoneyMe, if you provide your bank details, the maximum amount per transaction is 250€ (or equivalent).

10/ What can I do with MobileMoneyMe?
Securely pay for your online purchases from your mobile phone, transfer funds to ANY other mobile phone number in the world, pay your utility bills, Top Up (or recharge) your prepaid mobile phone account (or your parent’s or relatives’ mobile phones).

11/ Can I receive money with my MobileMoneyMe account?
Yes, You can receive funds from any other MobileMoneyMe acount; you can collect these funds directly in your MobileMoneyMe virtual account or via an authorized MobileMoneyMe Agent.

12/ Can I send money to someone who is not registered with MobileMoneyMe?
Yes, you can send money from your MobileMoneyMe account to any (valid & active) mobile phone in the world remittance if the beneficiary is not (yet) a registered MobileMoneyMe user, he/she will receive an SMS (text message) with instructions explaining how to collect his funds (or register to the MobileMoneyMe).

13/ Can I use MobileMoneyMe for my online purchases?
As explained previously, yes you can use MobileMoneyMe to pay for your online purchases securely.

14/ As a merchant, what do I need to start accepting MobileMoneyMe at my online shop?
You need to register for a Platinum MobileMoneyMe and provide the following information:

  • Company or owner of the online shop (certificate of registration of the company & copy of the passport or ID of the Director/owner);
  • Proof of address (i.e. utility bill - mobile phone bills are not accepted);
  • The provided address has to be verified (P.O. Box numbers are not accepted);
  • Valid & active phone number.

15/ What happens to my MobileMoneyMe account if I lose my mobile phone or credit/debit card?
Since no information related to your MobileMoneyMe account is stored in your mobile phone, there is no risk. Please contact our Customer Care Service immediately by phone or email, and your MobileMoneyMe (virtual) account will be suspended after checking your ID. The MobileMoneyMe account will remain inactive until you provide information with a new payment card and/or phone number (if your phone number has changed).

16/ When I send money to my parents or relatives using MobileMoneyMe, how long does it take to transfer the funds?
MobileMoneyMe is based on our award winning SMS & USSD based IMTWallet (Instant Mobile Transactions) Platform; all the transactions and instructions received are processed in real time. The payment or transfer instructions are therefore immediately executed and the funds transferred are received with no delay. A notification SMS (text message) is sent to the beneficiary’s mobile phone a few seconds after the confirmation of your transaction.

17/ Once I am registered with MobileMoneyMe, can I change my credit/debit card or my mobile phone number afterwards?
Yes, you can change your payment card anytime, but this change will only be validated, if the billing address of the new credit/debit card matches your personal address; you can also change your mobile phone number or link several mobile phone numbers to the SAME MobileMoneyMe virtual account; but please be aware that once this change is in place, the funds sent to your previous mobile number will not be transferred to the new account; you willfunds sent to your previous mobile number will not be transferred to the new account; you will have to notify your contacts (parents, friend, relatives) to stop using that mobile phone number (in the case you change your MAIN mobile phone number).

18/ If I don’t need my MobileMoneyMe account anymore, can I close it down?
Yes, you can close your MobileMoneyMe account any time; but if it is a merchant account, for security reasons, and to comply with KYC (Know Your Customer) and international AML (Anti Money Laundering) regulations and laws, part of the funds available may only be transferred to your bank account after a delay of 30 to 45 days.

19/ What is the relationship between MobileMoneyMe and iMTWallet (the mobile e- wallet)?
Not everyone has a bank account and/or a credit/debit card; and even bank account holders may wish not to communicate these details to third parties for security reasons. In which case, instead of using the credit card as a payment means or their bank account to receive funds, they can open a MobileMoneyMe account, which will be used for making payments and receiving funds. This MobileMoneyMe is a prepaid account, where they can transfer funds from their Bank account, using their credit/debit card, or pay in cash at a loading station (i.e. one of our authorized Agent to transfer funds to your account). In other words, the iMTWallet alias MobileMoneyMe account is used as a virtual (replacement) bank account, or a virtual payment card.

20/ Is my MobileMoneyMe account of a fixed or indefinite duration?
There is no time limit on the duration of your MobileMoneyMe virtual account. As long as the personal information provided is valid (credit/card, mobile phone number, address), your MobileMoneyMe account (and the associated iMTWallet account, if any) will also be valid and remain active.

21/ What is the MobileMoneyMe Registration Code (MMMRC) ?
The MobileMoneyMe registration code is a temporary code sent to your mobile phone during the registration process to check and validate your mobile phone number. This code is required during the Step 2 of the registration of your MobileMoneyMe account.

22/ What is the MobileMoneyMe Security Code (MMMSC) ?
The MobileMoneyMe security code is an 8 digit secret code only known by you; you are invited to define this code during the registration process of your MobileMoneyMe account; because of the very sensitive and critical nature of this code, it is advise not to use your date of birth or your phone number; ideally, memorize this code or keep it in a safe place.
